Listowel Races, The Ploughing Championships, Clifden Arts Week, Burren Peaks Walking, Limerick Jazz & much more to enjoy during your holiday here in Ireland in September.

Though we are now facing the end of this colourful month and the days are noticably shorter there is so much happening around the country at the moment. The Listowel Races have just finished and tomorrow and after tens of thousands of people will travel to Co. Laoise, for the biggest event in the rural Ireland calendar – the National Ploughing Championships. This will be attended by young and old and for many this is a great social event and also the weather this year looks as if it will be very favourable for all.
If you are interested in such an event contact Travel Plans and we will provide you with an itinerary that will allow you the time to spend a day there next year.

The Clifden Arts Fesitival started last week and runs until the 29th and the Dublin Theatre Festival will start next Thursday and this runs until October 13th.
Limerick will host its second International Jazz Festival this weekend and will feature artists from the US, the UK, national and local.
The Burren Peaks Walking Festival is also on over the coming weekend (27th to 29th) where you can enjoy guided hill and lowland walks varying in distance and grade.

Yesterday we had the All Ireland Football Final, the Hurling Final being on earlier in the month but next weekend is the hurling final replay so another great game hopefully in store for us all.
I spent the morning yesterday enjoying a walk around Dun Laoighre (outside Dublin city) and it looked so beautiful. It was a hive of activity with big and small boats all around, many people in swimming and availing of the sunshine and high temperatures. In the distance was Martello Tower in Dalkey, featuring at the beginning of James Joyce’s Ulysses and also in the distance was the Sugar Loaf Mountain.
So if you plan to be in Ireland for September 2014 you may just sample some of the above.
